Triple C Centre Corp (formerly Weyburn & District Performing Arts Society) began the process of converting to a charitable foundation in order to best support the building of the multipurpose facility at the Weyburn Comprehensive School (WCS). Triple C stands for Community, Culture and Convention, the three things that will be featured in the new facility.
Triple C has been working towards an objective of building a theatre at WCS for more than 10 years. There has been intensive research done into the design and operation of such a facility in various types of partnerships. It was an interesting proposal and Triple C began working with the City of Weyburn, the School Division and the Regional College on the concept.
Cornerstone School Division #209 and the Province of Saskatchewan Learning Ministry, as part of future changes to the Public and Separate School systems in Weyburn, they have plans to renovate WCS to accommodate more students. Renovations will include a new building for South East Regional College which is currently leasing space at WCS, and a new gymnasium for middle year students that will attend at WCS in the near future. The facility will include a theatre and convention space for community usage. Part of the renovations will include a commercial kitchen to support the convention centre and WCS is planning to add Commercial Cooking to their curriculum.
